Tech You Can Borrow

The Ashburnham Stevens Memorial Library offers technology that you can borrow. All technology is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We have:

  • Chromebooks
  • Record players
  • iPads

Ask a Library team member for more information about these items.

You can request our technology through the Library catalog the same way you request books and other items, if you have a valid CW MARS library card that does not have fines or overdue items.

Loan Rules

  • Technology is checked out for 1 week (7 days). Items can be renewed if no other patrons have requested the item.
  • Late fees for technology returned after the due date is $5/day with a maximum fine of $25.
  • Patrons may not alter or delete any settings or configurations of the technology.
  • Patrons are responsible for damage to or loss of technology and their accessories as a result of accident, theft, misuse, or neglect.
  • Patrons are required to report loss of or damage to the technology or accessories to Library staff.
  • Replacement cost for damaged technology is indicated on the tabs below for individual items.
  • Patrons are responsible for any violation of the Internet Use Policy and all other applicable Library policies.
  • Technology must be picked up and dropped off at the Ashburnham Stevens Memorial Library during thr Library's operational hours.
  • Please do not return technology in the drop box. Curbside pickup is not available for technology.

Chromebook Quick Start Guide

A Chromebook is a simple laptop that runs on Google’s Chrome operating system. These computers are designed to be used while connected to the internet.

Getting Started

To start up your Chromebook, open the cover and press the power button, located on the upper right side of the keyboard.

Patrons with a Google account (@gmail.com email address):

  • 1. Select Add User located on the lower left side of the screen.
  • 2. Sign in to your Google account. Make sure that you include the @gmail.com part of your email address.
  • 3. Click Sign In.
  • 4. The Chromebook will automatically connect with your Google services accounts.

Patrons without a Google account:

  • 1. Select the Guest Wifi icon if you are using the Chromebook in the Library. You will not need to enter a password for the Guest Wifi. If you are using the Chromebook at another location, enter the password. The password may be case sensitive and may take a moment to establish connection.
  • 2. Start browsing.
